Sarajevo, 17 October 2026 - A future shaped by new technologies also requires a more responsible approach to the resources we use every day.

Guided by this idea, Ekopak supported the Kiss The Future AI Summit in Sarajevo as a partner, connecting one of today’s most relevant topics – artificial intelligence – with the principles of recycling and the circular economy.

On the second day of the Summit, as part of the programme segment dedicated to energy and manufacturing, participants watched a video message from Amela Hrbat, Director of Ekopak. In her opening and welcome address, she spoke about the importance of recycling and the circular economy, explained how the packaging waste management system operates, and presented the results achieved by Ekopak as a system operator in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“The Kiss The Future AI Summit is about a future shaped by new technologies, and we want to remind people that the future is also shaped by how we manage the resources we use every day,” said Amela Hrbat, Director of Ekopak, among other things.

Her address served as an introduction to the second day of the Summit, dedicated to energy and manufacturing, which explored topics including sustainable development, modern energy systems, and reducing emissions through the implementation of sustainable solutions in industry.

During the Kiss The Future AI Summit, Ekopak also organised the separate collection of packaging waste and educated participants on its proper separation and recycling. At recycling stations installed at the Bosnian Cultural Centre and the Sarajevo Youth Theatre, participants were able to separately dispose of paper, plastic, and glass packaging.

Ekopak installed bins for the separate collection of packaging waste at the Summit venues and, together with its partner Aida Commerce, will ensure that the collected packaging waste is collected and directed to recycling through the Ekopak system.

Ekopak extends special thanks to Druga gimnazija Sarajevo and the members of its environmental club, who volunteered during the Summit under the guidance of teacher Aida Sejdić-Melezović. The students not only helped participants properly separate packaging waste but also explained where different types of packaging should be disposed of and what happens to them after separate collection. In this way, young people who had previously gained knowledge about recycling were given the opportunity to pass that knowledge on to others.

By supporting the Kiss The Future AI Summit, Ekopak demonstrated that major business and public events can also provide an opportunity to implement good environmental practices. From providing infrastructure and educating participants to collecting packaging waste and directing it to recycling, the Summit demonstrated how a more responsible approach to resources can become an integral part of event organisation.

Ekopak will continue to support events and initiatives that promote the proper management of packaging waste, recycling, and the principles of the circular economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
