On Tuesday, February 11, a meeting of packaging waste collectors operating within the Ekopak system was held at the premises of PET Servis in Zenica.

The meeting focused on discussing the challenges faced by companies engaged in the collection, preparation, and transportation of packaging waste for recycling, as well as exploring potential solutions to overcome these challenges.

Following the official part of the meeting, participants toured the facilities of PET Servis, where they had the opportunity to learn about the company’s operational processes and infrastructure. Special attention was drawn to the preparation of RDF (Refuse-Derived Fuel), making PET Servis the first company in Bosnia and Herzegovina to implement this practice.

In addition to the host, PET Servis, the meeting was attended by representatives of companies engaged in packaging waste collection, including:

🔹 Duga Široki Brijeg

🔹 Eko-industrijski otpad Zizi (Travnik)

🔹 Amar Plast (Gradačac)

🔹 Papir Servis (Sarajevo)

🔹 Eco-line (Orašje)

🔹 Eko-servis (Tešanj)

🔹 Aida Commerce (Sarajevo)

Ekopak expressed satisfaction with the successful collaboration with packaging waste collectors, emphasizing that their efforts are crucial for meeting the prescribed recycling and packaging waste recovery targets in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"This group of companies, together with other Ekopak partners, significantly contributes to improving the packaging recycling system in our country. Their work ensures that increasing amounts of packaging waste end up in recycling processes each year, rather than in landfills," said Ekopak Director Amela Hrbat.

The organization of such meetings and on-site visits facilitates better coordination between system operators and collectors, while also fostering the development of sustainable solutions for more efficient packaging waste management.
