The project "Recycle Me. Give Me a New Life.", implemented by Coca-Cola HBC B-H Sarajevo, Mercator, and Pika Card, with Ekopak as a partner, has been successfully completed.

In the process, 227,644 PET bottles were collected and distributed for recycling.

This year's project, carried out in June and July, showed that through joint effort, we can influence habits and properly dispose of PET packaging, giving it a new life. Since the beginning of June, when the project officially started as part of Coca-Cola's global program "World Without Waste," consumers brought bottles from their homes to six selected Mercator hypermarkets across Bosnia and Herzegovina. This demonstrated their commitment and engagement in preserving the environment and raised awareness of the importance of responsible waste management.

"The past two years of project implementation have shown that a large number of citizens are engaged in collecting PET packaging for recycling. Coca-Cola in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a socially responsible company, continuously works on innovations, establishing, developing, and maintaining partnerships for sustainability. The key component of all our strategies and activities is to increase the positive impact on the environment through joint activities with partners on responsible and proper disposal of packaging waste as a prerequisite for recycling," said Bruno Jelić, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Coca-Cola HBC Adria.

Waste management is crucial in the fight against climate change. Recycling reduces the amount of waste in landfills, saves energy, and resources needed for the production of new materials. Every step we take towards better waste management, whether through recycling, composting, or innovations in waste processing, contributes to the protection of the planet.

"In addition to Coca-Cola HBC B-H Sarajevo being one of our key and long-standing suppliers, it is also a significant and reliable partner in implementing a series of socially responsible projects that we have been carrying out continuously for years in the Bosnian market. I am pleased to point out that for the second year in a row, we are successfully implementing the project "Recycle Me. Give Me a New Life." by actively influencing the change in habits and educating our society on the importance of collecting and properly disposing of PET packaging waste. At Konzum and Fortenova Group, we pay significant attention and strongly support projects aimed at preserving our environment as one of the key ESG principles of our business operations," said Haris Arnautović, Head of Marketing at Konzum d.o.o. Sarajevo, which manages the Konzum and Mercator brands in the Bosnian market.

Through its partners – private and public utility companies, Ekopak ensured that the PET bottles collected at Mercator locations in Sarajevo, Mostar, and Tuzla are recycled.
