SFF: Significant amounts of packaging waste were collected during Sarajevo Film Festival
This year, Ekopak supported Coca-Cola in collecting packaging waste during Sarajevo Film Festival. In partnership with PUC Rad Sarajevo, Ekopak played an important role in the implementation of the project called "Recycling me. Give me a new life." as another successfuly implemented project in collection of packaging waste.
This cooperation made possible to set up special containers at the busiest locations in the center of Sarajevo and many visitors had an opportunity to dispose their packaging waste in an environmentally responsible manner. Also, special containers for collecting glass packaging waste were installed in all larger HORECA establishments in the center of Sarajevo.
After eight days of the SFF significant amounts of waste were collected and will be sent to recycling instead of being desposed at Smiljevići landfill: 950 kg of PET bottles, 530 kg of cans and 14,170 kg of glass packaging.
"This project is more than collecting packaging waste; it has a deeper goal of promoting sustainable habits in waste management and raising citizens' awareness about importance of proper sorting and recycling of packaging waste. Through initiatives like this, Ekopak continues to be an important part in the development of the recycling system in our country, " said Ekopak managing director, Amela Hrbat.
This collaboration between Coca-Cola, Ekopak and PUC Rad is not only a local initiative, but a contribution to the creation of a world without waste, where recycling becomes an integral part of every individual's daily life.
