Recognition for successful fulfillment of goals: Ekopak's system operator license has been extended
The first operator for packaging waste management system in Bosnia and Herzegovina "Ekopak" met all the prescribed goals and the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism extended the license for the period 2022-2026. Thus, Ekopak symbolically began to mark 10 years of its successful work.
Ekopak, as a pioneer in establishing a recycling system in BiH, started operating in 2012, when it received its first license as a system operator. This is the third permit, ie the third certificate of the Ministry for Continuous Success.
To this date, Ekopak has handed over more than 100,000 tons of all types of packaging waste for recycling through the network of its collectors from the entire Federation of BiH.
Also, in accordance with the obligations from the Rulebook on Packaging and Packaging Waste Management of FBiH, Ekopak invests in infrastructure for collection and recycling of packaging waste, such as sets of containers and bins for sorting waste at the place of origin, special vehicles for waste collection, recycling yards…
At the same time, continuous work is being done to raise citizens awareness, especially preschool and school-age children about the importance of recycling and environmental protection in general. More than 80,000 citizens, mostly children, have gone through various projects. In addition, Ekopak has introduced many educational institutions into the recycling system, from kindergartens to colleges.
Recently, Ekopak received another great recognition. The prestigious American Chamber of Commerce of Europe "AmCham Europe" declared Ekopak one of the most successful examples in Eastern and Southeastern Europe for its contribution to the development of local communities, which take into account ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles in their work.
Ekopak management is especially proud because all these great results are achieved with only four employees, at the lowest sustainable costs and for the benefit of the entire community.
