Ekopak presented annual recycling target fulfillment of 8% for 2012
Ekopak, the first authorised Operator of Packaging Waste Management System in the FBiH, ran a press conference in order to present an annual report on packaging waste management for 2012.
Ekopak, in line with the requirements of the Ordinance, committed to submit a report on packaging and packaging waste management due March 31, 2013 to the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism and Environmental Fund of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Following the positive feedback on the report by the two institutions, Ekopak publicly presented the achievements in 2012.
Even though Ekopak has become an authorized Operator of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Management System by the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism in mid-year 2012, owing to the well set business strategy, the objective of the year was successfully fulfilled in the second half of 2012.
Signing 177
contracts with producers of packaging materials, importers, distributors and
final suppliers, in 2012, Ekopak was responsible for 43.326 tons of packaging placed on the theritory of Federation BiH. In accordance with the targets of the Ordinance, 3.500 tons were
collected and handed over for recycling, thus fulfilling the target of recycling /recovery of 8% of the total packaging waste. Reaching the results was due to the
support and partnership with the licensed collectors and the growing
number of clients that recognize Ekopak as their system operator responsible as required by the Ordinance. This is a guaranty for building solid
grounds to development of transparent, long-term and sustainable system for
packaging waste management, and also looking up to the most efficient systems
applied in European countries without having prices of the packaged products
rise.
On today’s press
conference, a short promotional video was premiered, demonstrating Ekopak’s
business practice.
Apart from the Ekopak's general director, Amela Hrbat, the conference was attended by Edin
Terzić, advisor in the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism and Safet Harbinja, genral director of the Environmental Protection Fund of the FBiH.
