Ekopak participates in strengthening the capacity of utility companies
Kladanj 15.12.2015. - Thanks to companies who transferred their legal obligations to Ekopak on the Ordinance of packaging and packaging waste management, today was organised the delivery ceremony of two special vehicles which are worth 340,000 KM to PUC "Komunalac" from Kladanj.
In the project "Strengthening the technical capacity of the PUC "Komunalac" Kladanj", is so far invested around 460 thousand through the purchase of trucks, the establishment of eco-islands, the purchase of bins for selective disposal of packaging waste in all schools and public institutions, removal of illegal landfills and through other activities.
In addition to Ekopak, the project is co-financed by the Embassy of Japan, the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Ministry of Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection of Tuzla Canton, Fund for Environmental Protection of Federation and Municipality Kladanj.
Kladanj was among the first municipalities of Tuzla Canton who joined the Green Dot System which is Ekopak successfully developing in the Federation. "With the purchase of the containers, the establishment of eco-islands and sets of bins for all institutions and schools, for the citizens of Kladanj Ekopak enabled the separate disposal of packaging waste, and the most importantly is that these capacities don't have promotional character, but real function, because Ekopak ensures that packaging waste which the PUC "Komunalac" is collecting regularly and preparing for transport to recycling, continues to actually end up in recycling process. Through our reports which we deliver as Packaging Recovery Organisation to Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, we will report the quantities that the citizens of the Municipality Kladanj collected", said Amela Hrbat, manager of Ekopak.
The Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in BiH, Kazumasa Miyazaki, attended the handover ceremony of vehicles and used this occasion to point out that the projects in the field of environmental protection are at the top of the priority list when it comes to the assistance that the Government of Japan provides for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"Thanks to this project, the entire area of the Municipality of Kladanj will be covered by organized collection and disposal of waste. In the future, our aim is to establish a growing number of eco-islands for the selective disposal of packaging waste in the area of our local community, and also to establish a recycling yard "- said Yusuf Čavkunović, Mayor of the Municipality Kladanj.
Director of the Fund for Environmental Protection of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina said that with the implementation of this project Municipality of Kladanj has made a big step forward in terms of waste management.
Ekopak implemented educational activities in schools, and will continue to work in order to raise awareness about the importance of recycling and recovery of packaging waste.
The all enterprises that transferred its legal obligations for recycling of packaging waste to Ekopak, are enabling the establishment of the Green Dot System for recycling and recovery of packaging waste in our country.
