Ceremonial handover of the infrastructure for the establishment of 10 eco-islands was held In front of the JKP "Vitkom" in Vitez on 29.04.2015. Ekopak has financed purchase of special vehicle for the separate collection of packaging waste.

The handover was attended by the director of the JKP Vitkom, and representatives of the municipality of Vitez and Ekopak. In this way Vitez joins Ekopaks Green Dot system that is starting a project of primary selection of packaging waste from municipal solid waste. The project will have various promotional and educational activities aimed at increasing awareness among the local population about the proper disposal and recycling of packaging waste.

Vitez is one of 12 municipalities in which Ekopak successfully establishes a Green Dot system. Municipalities that are already included are: Bihać, Gračanica, Orašje, Donji Vakuf, Kladanj, Ključ, Olovo, Breza, Novi Travnik and Vogosća. Green Dot system that Ekopak builds in BiH is transparent, sustainable and long-term, based on the model of the most effective systems that are in place in other PRO EUROPE Member States.
